Thanksgiving Vespers on Wednesday!
There will be a Vespers tonight (Wednesday) at 5:30 pm. The service will be the Thanksgiving Vespers written by our very own St. Innocent of Alaska, Patriarch of Moscow and Apostle to America. St. Innocent (+1879) so appreciated the American holiday that he penned a beautiful Vespers and Matins service that celebrates the theme of Thanksgiving in the Holy Scriptures, not unlike the Canon of St. Andrew of Crete recalls the instances and examples of repentance from Scripture. ... Bake Sale tomorrow!
This Summer, Rebekah Hershiser was hospitalized and underwent surgery for fluid that filled the sack around her heart and some other organs. Although they have insurance, her medical bills are in excess of $17,000. We are going to have a bake sale fundraiser for her tomorrow at St. John's.
